Pink Tigers raise a whopping $41,000 for the McGrath Foundation

For the sixth year in a row, one of the McGrath Foundation’s largest community fundraising events can again call Perth home.

Curtin University Wesley League Team held their popular Pink Tiger Day on May 14 this year, with over 200 women attending in a splash of pink and adding to the event’s longstanding fundraising success.

Close to $200,000 has now been raised for the McGrath Foundation to date and this year’s event saw a whopping $41,000 going towards funding more McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities across Australia.

The club’s Sponsorship Manager, Mark Hayter, and his team organised yet another fantastic day for guests in the ‘Pink Marquee’, where they were treated to a fully catered spread of delicious food as well as champagne, wine, boutique beers, cider and soft drink.

Between the laughs and entertainment provided by the day’s Fundraising Auctioneer, guests cheered on the Curtin University Wesley League Team in their Pink Tiger jumpers as they took on CBC Fremantle.

Mr Hayter said: “I’m elated that there were so many ladies who embraced our Pink Tiger Day again this year. There’s something really special about seeing three generations of women coming together for a good time and backing a cause that supports people from all walks of life with breast cancer.”

McGrath Breast Care Nurse Karen Sprigg highlighted the difference the support of a breast care nurse can make.

“It was a great opportunity for me to highlight that I’m there to provide physical, emotional and psychological support and information for patients, acting as an advocate and link for them across a variety of health services,” said Karen.

“I really appreciated the effort that everyone had gone to in their fundraising. Everyone looked wonderful in pink, having a good time while raising money to help fund vital positions like mine.”
